John
Paul went from the Iowa State Architecture program to Purdue to complete a
Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
After Purdue, he lived in
Chicago for 3 years, working downtown for Skidmore,
Owings, and Merrill.
He
currently lives in
Des Moines
with his cat, Buber, and is finishing up a
multi-year project of remodeling an old 1918 house near the Waveland golf
course. After the house is done, he
gets to start making the furniture.
John
Paul has been working for a local structural engineering company, Charles Saul
Engineering, for the last 5 years. They
do a wide range of projects throughout Iowa
and the
Midwest. Some
notable projects are the Figge
Art Museum
in Davenport
and the Reiman Gardens Conservatory in
Ames.
When
not at work, he likes to spend vacation time in the mountains- snowboarding in
the winter and backpacking in the summer. Some
mountains which have been climbed are Long's Peak in Colorado and Mt. St. Helen's in
Washington. There
are many mountains on the "to be climbed" list.
